With its small central bulge and well-defined, loosely wound spiral arms, NGC 4603 is a classic Sd type spiral galaxy. (Compare its central bulge with that of M88, which is much larger.) The photograph was taken with the 4 meter telescope at the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory.
